This was on my TBR list ever since I read an article last year about fictional invasion tales that mentioned it. It wasn't bad, but Holly never really conveyed any sense of tension that the invasion supposedly evoked -- all of the panic was mentioned rather than shown. The aliens themselves were pretty interesting, but the resolution seemed a little too convenient considering everything that proceeded it. And considering that the author herself was a woman, the characterization of the (sole) female character was shallow and about as sexist as that of male authors of the time. In the end I don't regret reading it, but I really can't recommend it to anyone other than "golden age" afficanados.
